Headlands School is a coeducational comprehensive school situated on Sewerby Road near the B1255, Bridlington, East Riding of Yorkshire, England. The school has nearly 1,500 pupils aged 11–18.〔(DfES statistics ), 2004〕 ==History== The Upper School was on Sewerby Road and the Lower School on St Alban Road adjacent to the south. The Lower School has now been developed Barratt Developments with around 30 houses. Headlands School became a specialist school in science in 2002,〔("Headlands School and Community Science College" ), Specialist Schools and Academies Trust, 2006〕 and was granted the Sportsmark award by Sport England in 2003.〔("Headlands School and Community Science College" ), Ofsted, 9 February 2004〕 It is notable in having its own astronomy department complete with its own reflecting telescope mounted within a free-standing observatory on the school grounds. Headlands School participates in the annual Rock Challenge performance and drama gala held on the East Coast each year. Following the resignation of the former headteacher Dr Steve Rogers, Scott Ratherham was appointed as headteacher.
